1980 -  Our first summer at Scout Pool.

In the early days, a hike to Union Falls did not necessarily mean a trip to Scout Pool.  In those days we swam in the river near the confluence of the Warm and Falls forks of Mt. Ash Creek.  It wasn't until 1978 that we even started taking large groups of Scouts to Union Falls.  Before that it was considered a "Staff Hike".

In 1981 I left Camp Loll for two years as the director of Camp Treasure Mountain.  Many of the Loll Staff also left Loll.  In the summers of 1981 and 1982 the Treasure Mountain Staff visited Loll.  Among the activities of the expedition were hikes to Union Falls and Scout Pool.

In 1986 I returned to Camp Loll and to Union Falls and Scout Pool.  We soon found that the Park Service and put in a trail linking the two forks of Mt. Ash creek so that the scouts could get to the pool without having to hike up the stream.
